Founded in 2014 by Louisa Shimell, The Art Of Living is a Buckinghamshire based design studio specialising in creative residential and commercial interiors.

With a background in construction design management, Louisa has an excellent eye for detail and understands the importance of coordinating innovative design with practical living solutions. Her travels overseas allowed an understanding of the home and its design within various cultures and with a keen eye for texture, colour and structure, Louisa develops interiors that successfully reflect the people that live in them, whilst proposing creative ideas that offer her clients more than the expected.
Experienced in dealing with design teams & on site contractors, Louisa has built a trusted team of suppliers, joiners & upholsterers who help create unique & bespoke designs for her clients. With a family background in antiques and reclaimed furniture, she also enjoys sourcing unusual or vintage pieces for her clients that would like something a little different.
Personally overseeing and coordinating every project, ensures that her attention to detail and overall vision do not get lost throughout the design process, providing the best design for her clients and their homes.
